You may not know this, but the term “Omnia” is Greek for “everything”, so, it would be fair to call this handset the Samsung Everything… because that is exactly what it tries to do and be!

The Omnia is one of Samsungs latest smartphones, make that smart in appearance as well as funtion! The features list on this handset is very impressive, as it:

  • Supports 3g high speed downloads
  • It has browser support for HTML, RSS feeds, WAP 2.0/xHTML
  • A large 3.2 inch touch screen supporting 256K colors
  • The screen has a sensor allowing it to auto rotate as you turn the handset around
  • It has an enormous phonebook, we do not even know the size limit of this… it is big!
  • Storage can be expanded with Micro SD cards
  • The internal memory is either 8GB or 16 GB depending on which model you buy
  • The operating memory is 128 MB RAM, with 256 MB ROM
  • It is equipped with the acclaimed 624MHz Marvell PXA312 CPU
  • It is equipped with a 5 mega pixel camera including image stabilisation, video, flash, autofocus, and a secondary video camera!
  • Other features of this handset are an FM radio with RMS, built in GPS receiver, Pocket Microsoft Office, an MP3 / MP4 player, TV Out, a dictaphone and built in hands free… and some other stuff we do not have time to mention!

You can get the Samsung Omnia 16GB for a mere £25 per month on both Orange and O2 which is a pretty good deal! For that you also get a choice of 300 inclusive cross network minutes and 100 texts, or, you can go for just 200 cross network minutes and a massive 3000 text messages! Alternative you can opt for an even cheaper deal on the 8GB Omnia with a free bluetooth headset thrown into the bargain!

Personally I would recommend the 16 GB, it will prove a more capable phone, particularly as you start to fill it with data, and lets face it, a hands free set can easily be got hold of quite cheaply. In fact, many people probably have a compatible one already.
