Sorry people, you are never going to find instant cash back on a 12 months free deal!
Q: What are the retailers trying to achieve with these “free deals”?
A: Profit… plain and simple, they want to make money.
Q: How much profit is there in a free deal with instant cash back?
A: Zero, Nada, Zip
Q: How long would a company giving away these deals stay in business?
A: They would never even start such a business, there has never, and will never be one.
A 12 months freeis a carrot, on the end of a strong piece of rope attached to a very long pole! If you play your cards right, then you will get the carrot and the retailer will lose money! However, if you fall foul of the retailers fine print, you will never see that carrot and the retailer will make profit.
Retailers engineer these deals to ensure they sound easy enough to make a successful claim against, whilst introducing as many “little catches” as possible, which, although they sound trivial are sure to catch out the disorganised / forgetful customer.
Consider the requirement that you must present all your phone bills to “prove” you have paid for the phone. This has nothing to do with “proving” you have paid. They know you have paid, and, even if you have not it is none of their business, it is between you and the network provider. The real reason retailers ask for these bills is because they know that most people lose them or throw them away. There are many other examples, so, do not get one of these deals unless you are well organised, savvy and capable of understanding the small print, and more importantly acting on it.
If you are looking for a free handset with no risk to yourself you are onto a loser. After all, when was the last time you walked into a shop, and were allowed to leave without paying for it?
