The F480 Tocco has a great reputation for reliability and build quality. It is made from the best materials and benefits from some pretty slick styling!. The F480 has a perfectly flat facia with a glossy black casing. Despite the fact that the Tocco is a robust and well made handset, you may want to protect its pretty looks from dirt and scratches, and, to that end Samsung have been kind enough to supply it with a leather wallet case. You may also wish to purchase a soft cleaning cloth to remove any unsightly finger prints! Really, if you are into asthetics, then this is a phone you will want to look after!

As is now common with next generation smartphones, there are just three buttons on the front of the phone, with a hold key, volume control and a shortcut key for the camera conveniently located on the side.

It go’s without saying that this phone has a built in music player, a good one! You can listen to music in the background while performing other tasks (running different applications) whilst a conveniently placed widget allows you to skip / forward and pause your tracks as well as providing a convenient route to the music player application itself.

The F480 provides haptic vibratin feedback making its use intuitive and natural. The interface is the colorful Croix touchscreen interface (which has won several awards).

The memory is a little limited on this handset, with just 230MB of internal memory available. This is enough to store a reasonable number of tracks, but it could reallly do with more storage, especialy as competing phones are now measuring their capacity in Gigabytes. To address this Samsung have added a microSD card slot which allows the memory to be expanded to 8GB.

Now 8GB is not quite up to I Pod standards, but, you can get a lot of music on that card! I have seen estimates of 2000 tracks per 8GB from manufacurers of other devices, but that is an over estimation. The figure of 2000 tracks assumes an average of just 4Mb per track, which is an under estimation. In reality tracks tend to be larger than 4Mb and you can realistically expect to get around 1700 tracks on an 8GB card, which should be more than enough for most users!
